An Urgent Plea For The People of Haiti
Dear Family, Friends and Supporters
I hope this message finds you well and in good spirits. I am reaching out to you today with an urgent plea for assistance that involves a matter of utmost importance. Just recently, I received a distressing call from Haiti, informing me that our two Villager Sunovens, crucial for the well-being of an entire community, must be relocated to safety immediately due to the escalating civil unrest in Haiti.
These remarkable Solar ovens, each weighing a substantial 2,000 pounds, were originally placed in Haiti two years ago to support our bakery project that has provided sustenance, clean water, and economic opportunities for the local population. They have endured multiple natural disasters, including earthquakes and hurricanes, as well as the challenges posed by previous civil conflicts, serving as literal lifelines for countless individuals.

They have endured multiple natural disasters, including earthquakes and hurricanes, as well as the challenges posed by previous civil conflicts, serving as literal lifelines for countless individuals.
Now, with the civil war once again encroaching upon their location, we have an urgent responsibility to secure these ovens and relocate them to a safe haven. This mission is no small feat and entails not only the physical transfer by a heavy-duty commercial truck but also ensuring the safety of all those involved in the operation by providing an armed escort. We are relying on the support of our local partners in the remote community of Anou, where our church and school members have generously offered their property to safeguard these vital assets.
To accomplish this, we urgently need your support to raise $5,000, which will cover all expenses associated with the equipment transfer and the necessary security measures. The magnitude of this situation cannot be overstated, as these ovens are irreplaceable, and our initial investment of over $50,000 has been the backbone of our bakery project since its inception in 2006. These Sunovens are more than just the world’s largest solar ovens; they are beacons of hope in desperately impoverished communities. They provide not only cooked food but also daily bread, sterilized water, and opportunities for small business development, representing a lifeline for those who depend on them.We kindly request your support in this critical endeavor, and there are multiple ways you can make a difference: 1. Your contributions are tax-deductible, as Mercy Outreach Ministry is a 501(c)3 nonprofit.

We have attached photos of the ovens in their current, secure enclosure at the orphanage in Gressier, Haiti. It is imperative that we move them to safety this weekend.
